Senator Elizabeth Warren | President Donald Trump
In the US government, president Donald Trump has incorporated a routine into his campaign speech where he calls the U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" or "that fake Indian". This is because Warren was a big critic of Trump during this campaign and he feels he is warranted to call her these names because she used American Indian heritage on some application forms while seeking employment years ago. Trumps and his followers feel that referring to someone by their heritage is acceptable behavior. Warren defends herself saying Trump is being racist, and claiming "American Indian women are three times to be subjected to domestic and sexual violence than their counterparts". Warren and Trump are known for having Twitter battles, Warren named Trump and Mike Pence"small, insecure, weak men who use hate & fear to divide our country & our people.", Trump responded by calling her a fraud for lying about her heritage. According to CNN, a genealogist traced Warren's Native American heritage to the late 19th century, making her 1/32 Native American although the legitimacy of these findings is debatable.

Voice of Pocahontas, Irene Bedard

Irene Bedard (the voice of Disney's Pocahontas), a heavy critic of Trump claims Trump is using Warrens heritage as a classic misdirect. She claims this isn't about Warren claiming heritage, instead about Trump naming Warren Pocahontas. Bedard says she has respect for Warren as she reposts Native American causes and people.

Bedard goes further to say "Trump is perhaps the most appalling and insulting presidential candidate in history." She claims Trump's speech reflects racism, xenophobia, and misogny. Most recently, President Trump referred to Elizabeth Warren as "Pocahontas" during a White House event on Nov 27/17, honoring Native American code talkers who served in WWII. Warren responded, telling MSNBC, "It was deeply unfortunate that the President of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without throwing out a racial slur".
